I’ve been offering Poetryhugs at festivals, weddings and markets since 2020. I sit with curious and courageous strangers at my vintage Underwood typewriter, and we talk about what matters. A few minutes later they leave with a poem written just for them, typed on paper and signed, that holds the sweet, silly and tender sides of being human.
It’s a slow, tender thing in the middle of a celebration. People laugh, sometimes cry, and nearly always keep the poem.
It is the winter, child.

berry juice between
your fingers- they

thanking your body for
the gift it is. Taking
you, to beautiful places,
a calm heart, celebrating
the simple, the new,
the relaxing waters
and sturdy mountains.

it’s you.
